This course meets the training requirements prescribed under Chapter 828.27 of the Florida Statutes.
Registrants will participate in open discussions and demonstrate proficiency in animal knowledge, pharmacology, dosage calculations, decision-making, handling post-capture emergencies, equipment handling, and proper documentation of a chemical immobilization operation. Additionally, students must demonstrate marksmanship, projector safety, and qualify on the range with a projector.
Completion of this course requires that all registrants attend the entire course, participate in all discussions and hands-on training exercises, pass a written examination with a score of 75% or higher, and pass the practical assessment test in the areas of drug calculations, marksmanship, scene assessment, and drug handling.
The first eight hours of the training class are completed by the student in a self-directed learning environment. The online material for this portion of the class is located on the Florida Animal Control Training Commission’s website www.factc.us.
Registrants that successfully pass this course will receive a certification from the American Animal Cruelty Investigations School with the designation as a certified Chemical Immobilization Technician.
